RADIOFREQUENCY. THERMACOOLWhat Is Thermacool? Thermacool is a non-invasive technique that presents no complications or recovery period. It improves skin flaccidity and wrinkles associated with aging. Thermacool improves the quality and quantity of collagen and therefore improving the quality of the skin. It also helps in the prevention of facial flaccidity and aging. The system consists in the application of energy by means of radio frequency, enabling access to deeper layers of the dermis and acting directly on the fibers that tighten the skin (collagen), making them contract and inducing a pulling effect on the skin. Radiofrequency generates an electrical field that changes from positive to negative, causing a molecular movement that generates heat. This heat warms up the dermis, which is the deepest layer of skin while a sophisticated control system cools down the epidermis before, during and after each session. In What Areas Can It Be Applied ?![]() This treatment causes skin contraction (lifting effect), redefining the shape of the face, lifting cheeks, eyebrows, the base of the neck and the eye contour. Thermacool also improves the nasogenian furrow and puppet lines. At present it is being used in regions other than the face. What Does The Treatment Consist Of?Before starting, the face is cleansed and an anaesthetic lotion is applied one hour before the procedure. The application of radiofrequency on the skin produces a slightly warm sensation that disappears when the treatment ends. Cold is applied to preserve and protect the superficial layer of the skin, before, during and after the emission of impulses. How Long Does The Procedure Last And When Are The Results Visible? The procedure lasts approximately 60 minutes. Once the session has ended the patient can resume his/her social life without any problems. The effects of treatment can be observed in two stages. In the first stage, the effects start to be visible during the first few days after treatment due to the contraction of collagen fibres that were present at the time of the session. Later on, in the second stage, the effects can be seen as a result of the stimulation produced by the synthesis of new collagen. How Many Sessions Are Required? With the new generation of treatment TIPS, only one application is needed in just one session. Since the execution is faster and the procedure painless, the same amount of radio frequency can be administered that previously was supplied in two or three sessions and yet maintaining the high grade of efficiency. Side Effects Contraindications Can It Be Combined With Other Treatments? It is compatible with other rejuvenation techniques such as pulsed light, facial mesotherapy, Botox, peelings, etc. However, we cannot forget that the results achieved by this technique never excel a surgical facelift.
